چکیده

Coastal karst formations may remain unexplored by the global marine scientific research community. Knowledge provided fishermen coupled with on karstic prompted us to explore geomorphometric and physicochemical features of a submerged blue hole in large tropical estuary Chetumal Bay southeastern coast Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico. Differently from well-known literature cenotes no references are made holes region. Sampling surveying were conducted September 2021 scuba, echosounders, CTD profilers, collection water samples. This study revealed previously unknown maximum depth for Taam ja’ Blue Hole, as it is now named, 274.4 meters below sea level (mbsl), making second deepest known world. The Hole has nearly circular shape at its surface, encompassing an area ~13,690 m 2 . sides steep, slopes >80° that form conic structure covered biofilms, sediments, limestone, gypsum ledges. mouth locates ~4.5-5.0 mbsl, which properties change significantly temperature salinity gradients 4.9°C/m 9.8 PSU/m, respectively. Hydrographic profiles show stratified column inside consisting hypoxic layer (5-20 mbsl), chemocline (50-80 anoxic (>110 mbsl). Evaluation anions cations indicated corresponds mainly diluted seawater.

The short device lifetimes of blue PhOLEDs: insights into the photostability of blue Ir(iii) complexes

Using Ir(iii) complexes as dopants in phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes (PhOLEDs) is the most successful strategy to attain long-lasting and highly-performant electroluminescent devices. Whilst highly efficient blue PhOLEDs are accessible, their limited operational lifetimes still restraint their practical use in lighting and displays. These short lifetimes are directly related to th...

"Brilliant Blue G" and "Membrane Blue Dual" assisted vitrectomy for macular hole.

The aim of this study is to evaluate vital dyes "Brilliant Blue G" (BBG) and "Membrane Blue Dual" (MBD) for intraoperative staining of the inner limiting membrane (ILM) during vitrectomy for macular hole (MH). Retrospective, comparative case series on 18 eyes with macular holes who underwent "23 and 25 gauge" pars plana vitrectomy. Main outcome measurements were staining intensity and character...

Black hole relics and inflation: Limits on blue perturbation spectra.

Blue primordial power spectra have spectral index n > 1 and arise naturally in the recently proposed hybrid inflationary scenario. An observational upper limit on n is derived by normalizing the spectrum at the quadrupole scale and considering the possible overproduction of Planck mass relics formed in the final stage of primordial black hole evaporation. In the inflationary Universe with the m...

Nutrient dynamics in the deep blue sea.

For more than a century, oceanographers have studied the interactions between the photosynthetic production of organic matter and nutrient dynamics in the sea. This research has been field-oriented and transdisciplinary, occurring at the intersections of research in microbiology, physics, analytical chemistry, cell physiology and ecology. The global database derived from this collective effort ...
